The Gallop Inn was in full swing serving some top notch local produce at the Portsmouth Historic Dockyard Victorian Festival of Christmas.
Our team have been busy creating a gorgeous Mulled Gin for this event laced with Twisted Nose produced by Winchester Distillery. A beautiful small batch craft gin combining ten botanicals mainly a Hampshire watercress to create a spirit that is intense, fragrant and very refreshing. The watercress adds a peppery note and a sweet herbaceous sparkle , which lifts this gin to new heights and is one of the most refreshing gins we’ve tasted. The Romans knew watercress as Nasturtium, meaning “twisted nose”, from which the gin takes its name. We recommend you serve with a good tonic and twist of pink grapefruit for the perfect gin and tonic or with Vermouth for an amazing Martini.
We teamed up with The London Road Brew House to showcase a selection of their craft beers. Taking centre stage on the draught taps was Fat Bandit. They also supplied a canned range with some inspired beers…
Hoptopus, a straw coloured and refreshing American Pale Ale handcrafted using 8 different hops and the finest English malt to produce a crisp and slight bitter fruity finish.
Beetle Juice, a Belgian farmhouse saison using fresh blueberry puree and English malts to create a fruity and balanced refreshing beer.
Tropicale, a summer pale ale with generous amounts of mango and passionfruit produce a fruity, balanced beer with a slight biscuity finish.

The Gallop Inn was serving some stand out snacks produced by The Happy Biltong Company. They cure and manufacture some of the finest beef biltong you can buy in the UK. They use some of the very best beef and have gone to great lengths to source the very best quality Herbs, Spices & Salts for flavouring. They currently produce six flavours of Biltong, Original, Chilli, PeriPeri, Hickory, Firetong and Jalapeño. We gather that a range of Pork Scratchings will be available soon which we’re really looking forward to trying out.
